8M: Breaking stereotypes in the fashion industry
At Consuela Store, we join the movement organized for March 8th, International Women's Day , whose theme for 2022 has been "Break the Bias." And if we relate this to the fashion industry, and more specifically to urban fashion or streetwear, there is still a significant gender gap where masculine aesthetics dominate.
More and more brands are joining the genderless and feminist fashion movement . They're creating unisex clothing collections, or classifying garments by category rather than by product. In fact, streetwear has always been considered inclusive and size- and gender-neutral. But we still have a long way to go. The inequalities in styles between women's and men's clothing, sexist marketing campaigns, associating "feminine" colors with women's clothing, and exclusive releases in men's sizes are still unresolved issues.
We want to highlight all the brands that take feminist action through their collections and campaigns, as well as encourage others to join this movement for gender equality in the fashion industry.
